Vingroup has decided to invest VND1.2 trillion, which is equivalent to US$51.38 million for a "Smart Electronics Factory” project. The project has been unveiled by the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park (Hoa Lac HTP) Management Board and Vingroup, known as Vietnamese biggest private conglomerate under an agreement.

The agreement says, from 2018 to 2020 and looking towards 2025, Vingroup will pour its investments into high-tech manufacturing in the Hoa Lac HTP. When fully implemented, this plan is expected to help the high-tech manufacturing industry evolve through the corporation’s investment in R&D, advanced technology, software, high-tech industrial manufacturing, housing development, commerce and services.

The Smart Electronics factory will be built on a five-hectare area in Hoa Lac. The estimated number of smart electronics produced here is about 3-4 million units a year for domestic consumption and export. According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, vice president and CEO of Vingroup, this corporation has chosen smartphones as the first product to debut.

Vingroup will soon be able to launch its “Made in Vietnam” high-tech products which could require localization and readiness of the supporting industries. And here is the opportunity to avoid missed opportunities. At NEPCON Vietnam, manufacturers and assemblers in the supporting industries will discovered needed technologies and solutions as well as know-how and business connections to power up their productivity and get them ready for the emerging opportunities.
