Steel Sector to Grow
10 – 12 Percent Next Year


Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) predicted that the steel industry is likely to enjoy 10 – 12% growth in 2017. VSA’s General Secretary, Mr. Chu Duc Khai believed the expected GDP growth of 6.2% and operation of steel projects will further enhance the sector’s growth. However, he warned of challenges ahead as cheap steel from China would continue to flood the domestic market.

In order to be prepared against difficulties, the government will have to implement trade protection measures and technical barriers to restrict steel imports. The VSA has filed petitions to the government demanding anti-dumping measures be imposed on several steel imports…Read More
